My 1st post!

Thanks in advance for your help.
I'm building a gorgeous jewelry site for a client.
They do NOT need e-commerce.

However, they have hundreds of pieces of jewelry that need to be split among several categories (necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings). Some of them also fall under different collections (diamond collection, pearl collection).

I'm trying to figure out the best way to add a dynamic product gallery to this site. Is a custom PHP solution the best? Drupal? Joomla? Gallery? OScommerce? Wordpress?

Here are samples of nice product galleries (ignore the e-commerce):

http://www.shopmarble.ca/shop/27/byob

http://www.davidyurman.com/shoponlin...lassics&page=1

The requirements I have are:

1. Ability to create custom categories on the left.

2. Ability to add products to more than 1 category.

3. Clicking on category such as "Collections" or "Mens" then displays all the product thumbnails on the right hand side of the screen

4. Clicking on a thumbnail brings you to a product detail page with one main photo and 2-3 alternate photo views.

Can anyone help me? I'm using Odesk for this project--and it really requires me to choose the best course of action. So far, all of their devlopers have suggested different things.

Time is of the essence here...so whatever method is faster is preferred.

Thank you!!!

I noticed I don't have any replies after a couple of days.
Can anyone tell me if this belongs in another category?

Thanks.

Have you considered VirtueMart? It can be used for ecommerce OR just as a catalog without prices and other shopping cart features. It also has the ability to post products to multiple categories that you require. With regards to the left navigation, you should probably be able to tweak the template (or design your own) if you use it as a standalone. If you use it bundled with Joomla, you can create the left nav using Joomla's admin control panel. You can download the standalone or the bundle at VirtueMart.com

I have only looked at this briefly, and am fairly new to both Joomla and Virtuemart (still playing), but thought that since no one else had responded, maybe I could help.
