I'm trying to incorporate a postcode search to a site where a user can enter their postcode and it will return a list of the nearest dealers to their area.

i have a database with all the UK postcodes, lat and long coordinates and also a table with dealers address'.

How would I go about doing this?

i have been searching for days on this subject but keep running into a brick wall.

For post-code lookup, you don't need to have the database. You have to call the web-service only. http://www.allies-computing.co.uk/ - try their service for trial.

Yeah you can use a postcode look up service. They'll provide you with an API, then you can make requests sending a postcode and getting back full postal address details.

You have to pay for each request made but the service I used was fairly reasonable. Wish I could remember the name but I'm sure you'd find something if you searched Google for it.
