What are your opinions about PHP language future? Does this language have any perspectives or it will be replaced by a new technology later? What do you think about this?

It will evolve, but other new languages will take over.

PHP won't die for a loooooong time, because it is the language being used for the majority of CMS systems now online.

The simple answer to your question, in the short-term, is that the future is PHP6, then PHP7, etc. The question that is more interesting to me is: how many versions will we see before it really stabilizes?

I didn't mean to infer anything negative by "stabilizes". All I meant is, "I wonder how long it will take before the platform stops adding many new features"? PHP5 is a significant departure from PHP4 in many ways, for example. Eventually PHP will slow down to the point that it doesn't have a new version for some time, but PHP6 is right around the corner, PHP4 is already not being supported, and stabilization doesn't seem to be any time soon.

Programming languages are always evolving, new methods of doing things are always emerging. First we had the regular programming, next they introduced functions, after that classes, then libraries, now we have MVC, frameworks... Learning a programming language is not a one time task, it's an ongoing process.

Probably the future of PHP is PHP.NET, perhaps running under Project Mono. Free but made of popsicle sticks and chewing gum will give way to capable, scalable, and robust, allowing developers to share data across sessions, et cetera.

LOL, I'm assuming it will also come bundled with Microsoft Linux, with an easy to use GUI editor that will allow non programmers to create complex applications using PHP.NET ?

God i hope not.

I need some kind of way to possibly earn a living in the future! lol KILL THE NOOBS!

I know i will be shot down now, by all the open source nice people here... i know everyone secretly thinks it tho, its all well and good but end of the day more people that know how to do something the less the people that can do it get paid .... im in a bit of a finacial future slum...

Anyways.

Yea i agree, PHP will continue to build and expand each year further and further and maybe one day we will see it bring things like graphical control (like VB etc) and then we could see PHP expand into a desktop applications etc, really the possibilities are endless, it can jsut keep growing and as technology and computing capabilities continue to grow so will programming languages and programs them selves

Dan.
