Hi im doing my first attempt with php. A contact form

I've found many good tutorials, and aswell free code (PHP) that i can use.

I'd really like to know the basic, for example i need an host that support php right? Does it need anything else like a database (silly question)?
I am trying to make it work on my mac with MAMP, everything show up fine.
It simply doesnt send the e-mail. No error message at all.

Thanks

No database needed.

May not work on localhost. Your ISP may have the port blocked or you may have not configured your machine correctly. You need to test on a live server.

Generally PHP Contact forms go directly to an email address.
Registration forms are usually the forms that are linked to a DB,

Hello,

About the database, you will need it for the contact form (but still can use a text file to store data), if you want to save all contact forms in the server.

And the email, this is a know issue ( at least for me ) , to what email server did you tried to send ( gmail, msn, yahoo, ...) ? Because some of them don't accept the emails received from unkown server, and I think you need something called "mail authentification" ( not sure about ) and you will also need to search for other php mail sending scripts and try them until you get a working one ( your server + script + the receipt server = ok )

I hope this will help you, or at least guide you the right way to find the solution.

Good luck !
