Hello there..

I just got couple of things to share, couple of questions to ask.

When anyone is making website, he should be funded or have a source of income, like a salary or anything else. so at least he can pay his hosting fees. and then if he want to make a website, it's either he should be a programmer himself.. or he can hire someone.

Well this is okay so far, but when it comes about me.

I got idea of a website that can work very well, but this website should be customized, I don't like buying CMS, I like it to be built from scratch by a smart programmer.

I just can't afford everything, so i stopped the project at the middle of work, and said, i should get a partner, someone that really cares about a project.

When i read the story of digg.com, i really liked the idea that the webmaster and the programmer he hired, became one team at the end.

so now,

1- have you ever had a partner? how to choose a partner?

2- what if a person has an idea, a great one, and the other one can afford almost important thing, can this called partnership?

3- do you care to be a partner of a web 2.0 website? I am not really posting this for fun, i am so serious regarding this.

4- how to make sure that everyone will have his own rights.

I believe that the website will be a big hit in my area ( Middle East, Which is big big market ), I want you to tell me how to establish such a website.

I believe that i can hire someone that can build the website with good money, but in the same time gives professional job. the thing is later on, i'd need to make advertisment for the website.

ANYONE PLEASE REPLAY ME ITS SERIOUS!

Well first off, you might actually want to rethink your position on a custom built CMS. While it is a great ambition, the time and effort (and money if you hire someone) to make such a thing is really more than it's worth. I'd suggest starting with an open source CMS (Joomla and Drupal come to mind) and customizing it to fit your needs.

now for your other questions.

1. I've had a partner for a couple of projects and it didn't go very well. The best advice I can give you here is to learn as much about someone as you can before agreeing to work with them.

2. Not really sure what you're trying to ask here. sorry

3. See answer to #1

4. If this is a really big project and (as you said) you are serious about it, you might consider getting legal counsel and drawing up a contract.

Good luck with your endeavours!

If you want a sponsor, investor, or a partner - consider writing up a business plan.

What he means by a business plan is to treat the web site as a business. You need to Construct a series of documents to indicate the following in it

I. The Business
A. Description of business
B. Marketing
C. Competition

E. Personnel
F. Business insurance

II. Financial Data
A. Loan applications
B. Capital equipment and supply list
C. Balance sheet
D. Breakeven analysis
E. Pro-forma income projections (profit & loss statements)
F. Three-year summary
G. Detail by month, first year
H. Detail by quarters, second and third years
I. Assumptions upon which projections were based
J. Pro-forma cash flow

III. Supporting Documents
A. Tax returns of principals for last three years Personal financial
statement (all banks have these forms)
B. For franchised businesses, a copy of franchise contract and all
supporting documents provided by the franchisor
C. Copy of proposed lease or purchase agreement for building space
D. Copy of licenses and other legal documents
E. Copy of resumes of all principals
F. Copies of letters of intent from suppliers, etc.
Doing this helps you understand a lot of aspects about the website, how you market it, how much you are going to spend (be in the negative) until it is profitable, and about when you expect it to become profitable. You can't throw up a website in a day and expect a million visitors by nights end, You can't even expect a hundred visitors by nights end.

Your definitely going to need some money to invest. I don't think you will find a programmer who will build an advanced site from scratch without getting paid anything up front. Your best bet would be to put all your ideas on paper. Write down all the features. Photoshop some screenshots of a sample website. Write down why you are better than the other sites and why people will go to your site. Also include how you plan on marketing the site and how you plan on generating revenue. Research your competitors (indirect and direct) and what similar sites got invested or bought out for. That way when you try to find a partner you they will know that you have done your homework and can get a general idea of the potential in the % you offer them. Instead of telling a programmer your idea, show him that you have done your research and you mean business. Sell him on your site and give him a little cash and part ownership.

Thanks for replaying.

I am seriously thinking like you.. But as you said it's all starts with the money.. paying somebody to get it started atleast.

so the whole reason why i posted the questions on this forum, is how to do business if you don't have money, but you got idea... this is where i started thinking like this... cuz i am already running out of time.

I hope you all got me now.

The problem with finding a partner when you have no idea how to program for the web is that all the work falls on your partner and you become his boss.

I had one partner that had a great idea, but relied upon me solely to do all the work. It really felt like he was my boss and that sucked. Now I have a partner who can help with the work, and we each take a part of the project. It is win-win and we both share in the success and failures. Plus it is really nice to bounce ideas off each other when we run into problems.

So unless you really have a superior idea you are going to have a tough time finding a partner, and you really need to bring something to table.
