hi i am looking for an open source? cms progam that is easy to use. I need to intergergrate into a page on a website the abolity to put special offers for product on it - so a box with the image , brefir description and price. There doesnt need to be any extended details really and no checkout or anything. Trouble is i dont know php that well at all and havent got time on this one to learn that quickly, so i wondered if anyone knew of something i could intergrate to do the trick. The customer needs to able to update the offers themselves and add , delete existing data from a web based form . Does anyone have any ideas on this please?
Many Thanks

i mean there are thousands of results and it was the first thing i did. I have used things like cushy cms and they are not quite what i want. I was actuallty after some good advice from people who might reccomend something. Seriously, i might have been a bit harsh in my reply - but being told to google something really is an insult.

let me rephrase what i was actually asking for and then you may jyust onderstand me more. I need to intergrate it into an EXISTING page - the site is aready built. That is whay Joomla and the likes are not suitable as they are effectivley whole sites. All i want is to be able to set a box that will repeat with products prices and pictures. Ther must be something out there and my searches on google - yes i do search has not really bore any fruit yet. I know it may be difficult to beleive - but some people do not know php that well - me being one of them . Please could someone give just a little buit of serious input here.

shonkyboy. I'm sure you've heard of the most popular cms out there. There are many. I think wordpress is ment to be one the more simpler one's although it still has a learning curve for noobs. I use both textpattern and Zencart. Although textpattern will most likely meet your needs. It took me a couple of days to get my head around textpattern. So if you have a couple of days give textpattern a try.

Sorry... I was just rubbing salt in your wounds...

I use a custom built system, and am building myself a new one, but I do recommend Drupal often. The only reason I don't need Drupal for most stuff, is it isn't as flexible as I need it to be, and is very powerful when all I usually need is lightweight.

I understand what you mean about wanting to integrate something into an existing page. Drupal can definitely be used to do that, though you won't be able to do it easily without getting past the learning curve first. Plus, Drupal will rewrite all your URLs, which is kinda annoying. This is part of the reason I am writing my own CMS, because I want something that can easily be integrated into existing pages, as long as there is PHP available on the server.

I feel your pain, and wish I could give you better advice on this.

yeah - i did look at zen cart - and many others (see i did look before i posted!) but they didnt seem to do, or did in overkill, what i was looking for . Basically i want one page where special offers can be displayed, a box with a pic and the ability for the user at the other end to manage it .My biggest problem is this requirement was added after i did the site for them and i dont really do php as im more onto the design side and what not. Ill have a look at that textpattern anyway thanks..

yeah i wish i actually had the skillset to write my own - buy actually im a bit of a php thicko and have bearly got my head round the "hello world" stage
I might have a butchers at drupal though - it did cross my mind . My other oprion is to try and get to know something like Joomla - that seemed fairly easy. I take it drupal works the same way.

Just to let you know that Joomla and Drupal are two of the more advanced CMSs out there.

how easy is it to change the templates - is it just a case of css and whet not or is it a bit more complicated? Obviously ther joomla one is pretty basic - i know you can get more templates but ideally if i could make this look like the site then i might get somewhere with it.
Then again - maybe it might be overkill - maybe i might be better paying someone to knock me up a custom css

The only quick fix I can think of is using something like Cutenews - http://cutephp.com/ - add your product info, create a Cutenews template for the list of entries, then use a php include to add the content to your page.

ok ok - so eventually i did look at rogem002's suggestion and i do have to say that this http://php.opensourcecms.com/ is actually a good site that lets you try stuff out so this is definatley worth investigating further and seems to list them all. So maybe i was a bit harsh after all. So for anyone else wanting to know the same question i had - this is a good start.
It still doesnt answer my question about the existing site but i am going to have a look at a few and see if any of them do what i want.
