ok, but then i can use - '%', i am a bit confused about thet cause ,someone said if i use that it wont use index, so then for keyword searching i must separate the keywords and search each one? is that right.
i also asked before but no one replied, is it better to search articles from db or create html pages on fly ,save them and search them? also want to keep it search engine friendly.
hey thanks alot for reply, got this huge site i am working on and i have to do things right or its my neck!

searching a database is much quicker than searching through files.

I think your concerns are somewhat unfounded, unless you are searching several columns over 10s of millions of rows, speed is not likely to be an issue.
