We've got a problem here, we're building a webshop and we would like to verify the VAT-number of our our customers. Because, if you're a company in e EU-country and you buy a product on our Belgian-site you don't have to pay any kind of VAT. So total price = price + 0% VAT.
We can't use a simple verification system by format, because you could fill in a VAT-number of a company you even don't know.
After google'ing a bit we found a system which let us verify directly when you submit. IT's called VIES. Like we read you should use SOAP to use it.
Is there somebody in here who has the knowledge about it, or someone who had needed this too in his webshop ?
