Hello,

I've just spent the past week trying to get my email form to work on Godaddy. I need to tell you that this is my first website, and I am not a coder. My form was generated by Dreamweaver and it worked for a few months and then suddenly I experienced long delays (up to 24 hours) in receiving the responses. I called and got conflicting reasons for why this happened. I was told by some people it was in my coding, but the general consensus was that Godaddy doesn't want non godaddy email addresses in the code (mine is aol) because that would be like spoofing?

So I was forced to insert my godaddy email address in the code and then have my godaddy email cc incoming mail to my aol email.....

Godaddy uses smtp protocal...aol uses an aol protocal (imap/smtp)...

The end result is that now I do get form responses immediately but it's generated from my godaddy email, not my aol one.

Is this the only solution?

This gave me immediate response:

$myEmail = 'info@godaddy.com'; // use your own email address
$noreply = 'info@godaddy.com'; // use your own email address

This gave me the big delays:

$myEmail = 'info@aol.com'; // use your own email address
$noreply = 'info@aol.com'; // use your own email address

I'd like to use my aol email, because that's the one people associate me with, and it's easier to check my mail throughout the day.

I really doubt that the delay has anything to do with the code (you should post your code when asking questions like this). The reason you get a fast response with your godaddy email account is because it is on the same server.

Imagine if you sent an email to yourself. That email should appear in your inbox almost immediately. The same goes for email sent within the same system (in your case a exampleOne@godaddy.com to exampleTwo@godaddy.com). If you were to send an email to another address however (ie example@godaddy.com to example@aol.com) there might be some delay. I think that's what is going on here.

Also, for future reference you should avoid double/triple posting. If you need to add more info use the edit button.

Delays up to 24 hours. Some email not making it to me at all.

It's more than the fact that's it's their server serving their domains...Godaddy told me they don't support what they termed as free emails, ie: gmail, yahoo, aol, etc.....

Since this is my first website/webhost experience, I'm wondering if this is a standard...if this is cool.

Absolutely nothing about godaddy hosting is an industry standard. It is a pathetic emample of linux hosting.

So Godaddy's claim that they are protecting their system from spoofers, by forcing us to use their emails is not based on a real concern? It seems unreasonable to me that I can't use my own email that I've had for many years on my own form.

How do other hosts handle this. Are you allowed to recommend other hosts on this site?

Thank you
