Hi there, I'm trying to install it, I've just finished giving the necessary files/folders 777 codes, and now when I go to my page I get a 500 error message.

Nothing is there now.

It shows HTTP 500 in IE and nothing in the other browsers, correct.

I did get a menu on that page before altering the CHMODs

Do you know if your running suPHP on it??? My host uses that and folders cannot be 777 and files cant be 666 either 755 or 644 respectively. With out causing a 500 IS error

I found a simple script that can fix directories and files.
