use <LINK REL="BOOKMARK ICON" HREF="/favicon.ico">
its not a php command, just put it up near the top of the page, and you must have the favicon in the same folder as the webpage, unless you want to edit the path

First of all, I see a favicon. Secondly never put something in the "top of a page". It either goes in the header or the body, in this case it belongs in header tags.

Might I suggest using a more up-to-date browser?

I don't think you even need to put that code in, just make sure the favicon is in the root dir and named favicon.ico

First you have to create an icon in jpg format using photoshop then go to http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/favicon/ to convert the jpeg to .ico...once converted you may now upload it to your remote directory. Make it sure the path is correct

I see your favicon just fine here, try CTRL+F5 to refresh the page. What browser are you using?

Hi there rober7,

Try this,

First create a favicon, which i am sure must you must be already having , so i guess i really dont need to get to that part of the work.

Next, Clear your cache - this might be another problem . I am sure you know how to clear the cache as well.

Now the last thing is

instead of using <LINK REL="BOOKMARK ICON" HREF="/favicon.ico"> command.

Try using

<link rel="icon" type="image/vnd.microsoft.icon" href="http://www.yourwebsite.com/favicon.ico">

I have always felt that the browser renders this tag faster. lol , I dnt knw if it makes a difference :P

But try that out as well.

Let us know .

Prateek,
PDJSolutions.

i think you should check your favicon by clicking on"www.yourdomain.com/favicon.ico",if you can see it separately, then you are successful about it .oppositely,if it is failing.the next step is :
check your file where it is .theoretically, make sure favicon.ico is in the root dir and remember save it by its name is favicon.ico.sometimes althought it is in the root dir but not the specific dir,you still cant see it .so according to your website progremme and version ,choosing correct dir.nevertheless, the invoking procedure is also important ,you can get it by google, then put it in
correct position.try it again.
