Hi,

I am very new to web design. I cannt do html, php, etc etc. I am making websites in iweb. I have purchased a script that means pages must be php. Script is installed no problem. I was told I need to rename the html files to read .php so I did and got this error;

"Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/fhlinux131/k/mysite.co.uk/user/htdocs/mytest/Welcome.html on line 1"

anyway i thought I did something wrong so I put the files back to html and found a .htaccess file that could be edited to say open files as if they were php I upload the file and got the same error. So I now know altering the html files to php did work but I dont know what the problem is or how to fix it. I really need help on this....

I added this to the .htaccess file and got the following error
Original code was only "AddType application/x-httpd-php .html"

"php_value short_open_tag 0"

Error;

"Internal Server Error

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@mysite.co.uk and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log."

You're getting the parse error because you left out a semicolon somewhere. Post the code and someone can probably point it out for you.
