Hi there - sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I don't know where else to put this.

I've designed a website that is mostly content-based, but I'd like to add an "articles" section.

I've never used a CMS or PHP before. I have looked at Wordpress, CushyCMS, Drupal, etc. - but I still have no idea what would be right for me. I'm looking for something that can:

-Be embedded in my website, matching my design
-Have a "comments" section on each article
-Allow me to organize articles my "categories"
-Have a sidebar listing articles by category, new articles, etc. (like the "labels" heading at googleblog.blogspot.com)
-Preferably (but not necessary), should allow for embedded images, adsense, video, etc. in the blog posts.

My plan was to do this in HTML/CSS, but with many articles it would be too difficult to go to every page and update "new articles" "categories" etc.

I'm not asking you to write the code for me, but please point me in the right direction. What tools should I use to accomplish such a task?

Thanks.

Use Joomla or WordPress and install it into a folder called "articles"

As Chris said - WordPress would be ideal for you.

However, Joomla for what you stated is like aiming a bazooka to a hostile tortoise.

I have used SNewsCMS. It is tiny and does the job very well.
Highly recommended if you do not want bloated features.

If you look for easy-to-install and easy-to-use system go with Wordpress. It's fast, simple and powerful. Moreover, it has millions of users worldwide and you can get professional assistance or honest tips from other webmasters whenever you need them
