Hi guys !!!

As a beginner in PHP i don't have much knowledge about it. Can anyone suggest me an amazing book from where it can be learnt in less time and with less effort?

I want a beginner's guide to PHP.

Please suggest me the right guide.

I tried a couple. The one I liked the best was "Beginning PHP5" published by WROX. You should be able to pick up a used copy for $10-15. You can or could download the sample files to save a lot of typing.

As an online quick reference manual tripy's suggestion can't be beat. It is far faster than looking something up in a book once you know enough to know what you want look up. I use it just about everytime I write code.

That is a hard question to answer, because it seems like every php book has something helpful in them, the best php book that i have seen so far is
php 6 and mysql 5 by Larry Ullman that is a decent book to learn from and it is pretty simple to understand.

I second the php.net manual (I added it as a search engine in firefox). I also found "PHP and MySQL Web Development (Welling/Thomson)" useful; However, I find the best learning method (for me) is the head-against-wall-repeat technique, coupled with a whole lot of googling, and a sprinkling of online tutorials.

I would also recommend a firm grasp of HTML/CSS before venturing forth, as it seems a lot of folks skip this step and end up paying the piper later.

If you have some money on you - you can try Lynda's PHP Essential training...
Not quite a book (since we don't have videobooks yet...) - but teaches you most basic stuff about PHP.

I ended up buying 3 books before I finally found one that was easy to comprehend and went at a nice pace. I recommend this one.
