Okay, I have been wanting to make a php framework for somewhile now, but have had no one to work with, so I am coming here to ask for a partner.

It will be OOP, if you're interested please reply.

Oh, it will be a free project, and I will set the release site up, once the framework is done, which will include: Forum, documentation, downloads, paid for apps, free apps, themes so-on-so-forth.

No problem with the idea, but it seems a little random to just drop into a forum asking for partners. Aren't there developers who know you that you can partner with?

^ Just thought I'd mention it. Don't know many developers who aren't busy with their own projects. I can do it on my own, but I thought it would be nice to get some other people to join in.

Make it into a GitHub project, so it's ready to commit to. Get people interested by writing the initial ideas. Then, ask people to join the project.

Just thought I would chime in here because I'm in the later stages of writing my own PHP framework. It's a lot of work. If you go forward with it, I'd highly recommend using test-driven development from the beginning. It'll make later changes a lot easier to enact.

I am curious... what problem are you trying to solve with your new PHP framework?

There are a number of them on out there right now, and they all are trying to solve different problems. So what are your issues with the current ones?

I think you were probably talking to TheNemesis, but I'll answer for my framework. I wanted to concentrate on an easy API that still handles fairly complex tasks. ZendFramework was a little too abstracted for my tastes and some of the other frameworks still offer legacy support for PHP4. On top of that, I wanted easier ways to build and validate forms (I have a JSON-style format) and to interact with the database. None of the other frameworks quite had what I was looking for, though I did use many of them for general inspiration and direction when I got stuck with what features to offer and how to structure the file system. In writing the framework, I definitely learned far more than I would have with just using an existing framework, plus I got to tailor it to my own coding style. Some of the disadvantages have been that it takes a lot longer to do it yourself and to-date, I haven't had anyone else involved to review it. I'll be releasing it later this year, however, so I hope to start building a community then.
