Whenever I try to login with a username and password I made in phpADMin I got an error Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (13) I think the error means that php can't find a mysql server at the address you provided. Anyone know what could be the problem?

Correct, and 127.0.0.1 means the local machine.

MySql not installed or not running.

I have installed WAMP which has mysql installed I think , How else I could check if its having problems running

If your using windows look for some kind of mysql service status program?

if linux, Try running thecommand service mysqld start as root

Windows I'm new to php so I could have made a very simple error , mysql is installed as is phpadmin but I did not change any of the files in them, do I need to specifically edit something?, also I'm using dreamweaver

Check if the MySQL service is set to automatically start.

Open xampp control panel and start mysql server or set to service if you want it to start when you start windows.

If you're on Windows, and the XAMPP panel doesn't work, you should be able to go to: Control Panel > System and Security (as of Vista) > Administrative Tools > Services and find the service "MySQL" or something of that variant. You should see that it's started. If not, right click on the service and click "Start". If there's an error, it should popup a notice of what the error is.

There are a couple of possibilities,


1) DB server name(host name) might me wrong, try with "localhost".
2) MySQL server may not be working /started
3) Your db user may not have proper privilege

or if you have skype you also have conflicts with the port http://befused.com/wamp/wamp-skype-conflict
