please can someone tell me how different is php applications running on a company's intranet from hosted php applications or websites in otherwords. any help is greatly appreciated in advance.

Other than how sendmail might be configured or work I agree that that what you see is what you get; both intra and inter.

A server running PHP is a server running PHP.

thank you very much for your replies. however how do you make it accessible to other network users through their web browsers? that is by just allowing them to type the address of the application in the address bar of their browsers to access the application which is kept on other computer on the network. any effort to reply is greatly appreciated in advance.

No i don't think so there are any major changes on the application and its usage which can be generated through intranet or internet
