I am a website owner with no coding skills for myself. I normally outsource work and do the testing part to see if all functionalities work well, etc. Now, I have a new requirement that is to build an API for one of my products. This API is going to be shared with some big companies in the niche and so I will have to effectively test the functionality before sharing it with them.

But I do not know how to go about it. Now since I do not have coding experience myself, I cannot check out the code. Now since this does not come with a front-end, i cannot test the functionalities using my regular methods.

Though I trust my developer, I am feeling uncomfortable about how to go about it. What do you suggest?

You could contract in a software testing service. They will test it to destruction and report on their findings.

API testing is different from other testing types as GUI is rarely involved in API Testing. Even if GUI is not involved in API testing, you still need to setup initial environment, invoke API with required set of parameters and then finally analyze the result.
