I used it's older brother to learn PHP about 8 years ago and I haven't looked back.

It's a very simple book that talks you through building simple apps using basic PHP, progressing to Cookies, Sessions, MySQL and more.

Once you've read this, you can easily build anything your heart desires simply by using PHP.net as a reference.

there is a lot of beginner books out there, could anyone recommend anything Intermediate-level?

I like online tutorials, just appreciate traditional books more.
