I need some help with this issue.
I am running a website that has a free public section and and private member section. Both sections are using different scripts with different databases.
The private section is using a commercial script which charges a lot to create a billing portal. The free section using is using joomla and I already have a payment option setup. I want users to sign up from the free public site to gain access to the private site, but I am not sure how I should go about doing this.
The first thing I thought of was password protecting the directory where the membership site is installed from Cpanel, and have user sign up from the paysite. But is it possible to add their user/pass to the passworded directory?
Example: A user browsing on the public site buys a membership, and their user/pass which they sign up with can be used to login to the passworded section of the website.
I need the member site totally inaccessible unless you have a login. Can you give me some ideas as how you would go about doing something like this?
