I'm looking for a CMS platform that will allow registered users to create pages and make edits to my pages (much like a Wiki). However, I would like to have some control over the layout of the pages in order to have uniformity across my site. I'm trying to base my site off AllTrails.com, http://alltrails.com/trail/us/iowa/h...ck-nature-area. Although I would like users to be able to create pages (unlike AllTrails), I want them to be only able to edit the fields I allow such as "Trail Length," "Directions," or "Contact Info."

Any suggestions on what type of platform to use for this? Could I control this at all with a Wiki? Any idea what AllTrails is built with? Thanks in advance for the help.

You could use Simple Machines Forum SMF 2 with a custom form mod for posting the threads.

I will have to give a feedback on this matter, I am not sure what ideas do you have in mind to implement it, but I have tried out the Simple Machines Forum SMF2, and it works like a charm for me, I heard of the other too, but my friend, also my web advisor and partner, says that this would be better compared to the latter one. Since I haven’t tried both, I got nothing to compare with but I am satisfied with what I am using now.

With WordPress' custom page feature, you can create specific pages with the needed meta values (trail length, distance, etc.). You would also create a new user type (say "trail editor") and restrict them to only editing the custom trail pages. The coding for this is pretty darn simple, btw, and easy to achieve.
