How do I create an event based script to display an event coming up and in progress?

I would like to use a script or code that will allow it to display an upcoming sporting event e.g. "Team A vs Team B on 3 March 2011" and then when a certain date and time is reached, it may display "Team A vs Team B now playing". And then once another time point has passed, that event is no longer displayed, and another event is then displayed - "Team C vs Team D on 7 March 2011". And so on and so forth.

Is this possible under Classic ASP or Javascript? I don't know where to start...I have tried searching for examples on the net but nothing seems to match what I require. Any help?

It's trivial to do it in php - either have a simple db or use file-based data, check the server time against start and end dates held on db - voila.

Fairly trivial in any server side language, just be aware that time on the server will be the time in the server locale and not necessarily YOUR local time or the end users local time.
