Video just seems very inconvenient to me when it comes time to reference something. For instance if you're trying to remember how to use a for loop is it easier to start up your video tutorial, search for the for loop part, and watch it all over again, or is it easier to flip open a book to the right section and skim for the info you need?
There is also the issue of credibility. Anyone can record themselves teaching bad programming and then charge a hundred bucks for it. A published book tends to be more credible. By the way, the release date of the video in the first link is 2002. That's PHP 4.2-4.3. I would pay not to watch those videos considering all of the outdated info they must contain.
