Without taking a look myself, Im guessing that you are editing the wrong files. The header relates to the top of the site, and the footer relates to the bottom of the site.

Is there an admin section? If so you should be able to edit it in there. If not look for a "conf" file or similair, open this with dreamweaver or notepad and look for a "currency" or similair parameter. (Ctrl and F should help you - you may want to try searching for the $ sign) The background may be in here also although this is something I haven't looked at myself.

Also if you view the source of the site while it is live it may help you to find where files are linked etc.

If you are getting errors you have obviously upset the script in some way! It may be helpful if you put the errors in here.

Good luck!

Hi,

I've had a look at the site and if it's the grey background you are looking to change the image you need 2 edit is located at http://www.yournoticeboard.com/ad/images/bg.gif - the white cannot be edited as it is out of the way of the site although I could be proved wrong on this one.

As for the tables been out of place the only thing I can suggest is to view the original script (if possible) and copy all of the code across, and then whenever you make a change, upload it and check everything still works. Otherwise there is an issue in the header/footer files. What script are you running?

I've also had a look at the index page, and the flash is nice although it wont rank well in the search engines at all.

Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<title>www.YourNoticeboard.com  buy / sell / trade</title>
</head>
<body bgcolor="#666666">
<!--url's used in the movie-->
<a href="http://www.dookiedownpromotions.co.uk"></a>
<!--text used in the movie-->
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,0,0" width="100%" height="100%" id="index" align="middle">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="movie" value="index.swf" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#666666" />
<embed src="index.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#666666" width="100%" height="100%" name="index" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
</object>
</body>
</html>
Needs more reference to the sites keywords and meta keywords. Just thought Id point that out.

lol no worries m8 I recently started on PHP and it is very frustrating!

Is there no way you can redownload the script? Im pretty sure the issue lies in the footer/header section as these are seperate pages in themselves in theory. Although the problem could be with the images you have replaced - its best to try both of these.

If you replace that image that should sort the background (from grey).

If you can get the original script again it might be an idea to back it up, then customise the images, and then edit everything in the admin section.

I guess the best technique if you are unsure is to change something, upload check... if not right undo.

Good luck with everything.
