Advanced PHP Programming is a good book.

After you know PHP, the next step would be learning how to program your projects (designing portable code, API's etc). For that, I recommend Code Complete. I just got it and it's excellent.

"Professional PHP4"
Thats a good one, and its not really for professionals, they start with the basics and teach you how to do about anything.

Sorry to hijack your thread sk8boarder2424, but what about a book for a complete beginner?. One that goes through all the motions and explains everything, without being slow and boring...
The last 'beginner' book I got spent like 30 pages on the "Hello World" thing... Thats just tooo darn slow.
Anyway, any ideas?
