Ok I think this might be a server issue but everyone keeps telling me it's not so going to ask it.

I have 3 phpBB boards and they are three differnt version (I am lazy and have not gotten around to updating some) anyway for some reason some of the users logon and then go to reply to a topic, however when they click submit reply the browser shuts down. I have spoken to my server company and they say it's a phpBB issue. I was on a support forum for phpBB and they say it's a server issue. When I tell each of them that they blame the other then they say it's a user issue and no one has given me any idea as what could be wrong? maybe I did something wrong with the code but as I try not to mess with it much I don't know what that could have been.

Anyone got any ideas?

i might suspect a browser issue. have you collected browser and OS versions from the users reporting these problems?

There browser closes? I have not heard of that error, it could possibly be an extension of the error that you have to login twice sometimes.

This might be a spyware/virus issue. I have had a problem for a week now, where my browser - IE and Avant close unexpectidly. I am looking into why this is happening, but it does not happen using firefox.

So, it may not be your server or forum.

Steve.

thanks for the responses, ran around. We have three differnt OS and at least 2 different browsers. The login twice error I have fixed did that a while back on the first one and have not had the issue with the two newer ones.

As for spyware have sent out a link so that everyone can download "spybot - search and destroy" I use this and have never had a issue. I really have no idea what is going on will get all users to do virus scans and spyware scans then monitor the situation I guess.

There is one other avenue that I am looking at, which is a java bug. I updated my java last night and have not had the problem since, so might be an idea. The reason I looked into that was my java is not used on firefox, only ie and avant.
