I'd like to point you out an open source project me and a few friends of mine started.
we created movTable, a multiplatform php class for creating database driven html tables.
Created tables are heavily flexible and user-friendly: they can be sorted, filtered, they have re-sizeable columns and context menus. movTable-enabled html tables have also Drag&Drop capabilities.
