I am an intermediate to php and mysql. However, I know that you can only post up to 255 characters to the database. How would I create a program for articles? Would I write the article as an include file to include in the script with the title/author in the database?

Any help would be appreciated.

That's merely the limitation for a string datatype... other MySQL datatypes like BLOB or TEXT have different limitations - certainly in excess of what would be needed for a text article.

255 chars is the maximum for CHAR, VARCHAR & TINYTEXT field, A TEXT field can hold 65535 chars, then there is MEDIUMTEXT (16Mb) and LONGTEXT (4Gb).

So store the data for article in the database. with seperate fields for author, title etc
