Helo , i am a new member and its my first post.

I am creating a new website for elections, where you can see the votes count online, i am created this website with php/mysql.

I am expecting to have more than 100 000 people accessing my db in the same time.
I am affraid that my site can crash dur to traffic, so i need a hight traffic hosting that can support that number of users working in the same time and be 100% sure that it wont desapoint me , because if it happens , i will be in deep ****.

Regards

100 000 connections at the same time! high traffic isn't going to help. you'll need a high performance database, not mysql, and possibly several dedicated servers. A project this busy isn't within the scope of mysql. I believe the max number of connections that mysql can handle at any one time is a little over 2000.

There is a concept in practice known as clustering, or more easliy for webdev types we can call it load balancing.

The meat and veg of it been that you have several mirrors of your site all boxed off someplace.

You capture the request to a page,
You get the sever stats at this moment
Determine which server can handle the extra request
Forward the request.

Of course its not as simple as that (well yes it is actually if your set up ready to go) but no matter how beefy your DB or Web server it will always start to chug when its receiving many hits at the same period.

All your decent ISP should have something like this going on the idea has been around for years now.
