PHP coding is driving me crazy!
Here is what I want to do :
I want a user to be able to log into my site using a log in box

I then want to give them several options including the ability to post text on the front page, In this instance news

I also want the user to be able to upload text into their profile so that other users could view it.
I really really need some help, Ive tried so many tutorials and cannot find what Im looking for. If someone could help me I would be very happy. I wouldnt mind clear instructions on how I will achieve this instead of a link to another site, Its making me sick trailing through pages of information without finding anything. Im very new to PHP, so please be nice to me. I have all the requirements with my new host but nothing installed on my computer, what do I need?
Ive searched through the forum and couldnt really find anything.
Any help would really be apreciated!!

If you want to learn PHP, the best way is to install some webserver software with PHP and MySQL on your computer.
I use a webserver package called 'MiniPortal' which you can download from www.instantservers.com

you might also need to download the php and mysql mod that goes with it.

That will allow you to write and test your own PHP scripts on your computer. (without the hassle of uploading the scripts to your host all the time just to test them).

Once you have a webserver sorted out, you just need a text editor to write your scripts.

If you're new to PHP, making a login script is going to be difficult unless you know how to insert user data into a MySQL database.
Once you learn how PHP and MySQL interact with each other, you'll be open to a whole new world of possibilities
