Hi all, I'm doing an experimental shop for myself.

http://www.gamexuk.co.uk

As you can see it's currently using PayPal as my merchant for dealing with online transactions.

Was just wondering if anyone knew of some alternative cheap merchants?
Something that looks a bit more professional (and fits in with the site) when a transaction is carried out.

Pay Pal is great, but I think it kind of puts potential customers off.

Worldpay is ok but I am sure that I have seen a script on the net that allows you to customise your paypal screen. Can't remember where though, have a search.

Is a bit crappy the payment screens though

I would disagree that Worldpay is okay. I just tried to set up a Worldpay account for a client whose business was Sales Management Seminars. First Worldpay charges you 450 dollars for the priviledge of just applying, then if you are a new business they request more info than the IRS does to determine whether they should approve you, and then they string you along for a couple of weeks and then decline you. Plus they aren't that cheap either and take a good size cut of every transaction.

I would suggest that if you don't like Paypal look at getting a merchant account for your website and write the scripts yourself to process the cards or store the information securely and then process things manually. Try searching the CGI Resource, Google, or Hotscripts for a tutorial.

Just my two cents,

Kaiman

Theres always the new PayPal Pro which allows you to intergrate PayPal directly into your site. Although maybe pricy.. depends on how much money you class as acceptable.
