I'd like to create a database driven website, using PHP to take information from the database.

Problem seems to be search engines. How would I go about making a site that is search engine friendly, but new items can always be added?

If the site was, for example, a lyrics website, lyrics would need to be found by search engines.

Could somebody please put forward a few sketchy ideas about databases actually working with search engines?

Uhmmm...There is no magic formula if you can browse it via your web browser so can most of the major spiders. If you want to use the old technique of SEF (Search Engine Friendly) Urls then that would require a bit of programming and/or the use of mod_rewrite.

You can also use Google Site Maps. I heard it helped lot's of folks putting all their links on google, including dynamic ones. index.php?xx=42323, etc...
