Does anyone know of a open source multi-user blogging system for my website that will let individuals register and be able to create their own blogs with their own skins and templates? Preferrably written in php. I've downloaded and tried b2evolution and boastmachine3.1 and neither seem to be able to allow individuals to register and create their own blogs, only join pre-existing blogs created by me.

could you not just change the code to what you need it to do??

I suppose I could if I was a bit more proficient with php and mysql. I've only been working with php for about 6 months. There are more advanced things in the code that I don't understand yet.

That's a great idea. I don't believe anyone has built an open source project like that before.

To do what you want, you would need to tie blog entries, comments, etc with the blog ID (for multiple blogs). Its a big project. Too big to explain every detail. I don't know of any pre-existing system you can use. Besides, it would probably be easier to just build a bare-bones blog system yourself.

Building a barebones open source blog system probably would be easier for me because I could make it as simple or complex as I want. Although studying and altering an already existing system isn't exacly a bad idea. It would save me a lot of work, but still I don't know. I'm trying drupal right now. It seems to have a great bit of functionality.
