how do i create short urls with php

ie (http://www.myspace.com/thatonejewishguy) that end part and have the page information without the file type code at the end?

i dont know if there's a php command for it, and im pretty sure that myspace doesnt support php, but if its for a different website that does support php, u can always use html frames.
