If your intrested go to www.dyndns.com follow the links for services and dynamic DNS.
You will have to register but thats all and its free.
You can then run your own server on your own box (which most will probably be doing anyway) once you registered a name. Theres more too, I have just configured postfix (what a beast) and have now the ability to send and receive emails locally and externally (Though some ISP bounce me as I have a dynamic IP).
Anyway take your knowledge further and give it a go.
Of course its not a good idea for your work place where a fixed IP and a purchased hostname are essential (well almost essential) but for your home computer its a gift from the gods.
