Advantages over what? Do you mean the advantages of PHP over plain HTML, or the advantages of PHP over other serverside languages like ASP or PERL?

At least, PHP have a shorter learning curve then other scripting languages, like Perl or ASP.Net, in few days you can write your own scripts, with a proper documentation and always RTFM

One of the huge advantages of PHP over something like HTML is the fact that it can create so many dynamic things, unlike basic HTML

If you ask me, I don't find php that useful, let me explain (before I send you in the wrong direction)

Php IS good if you want to create a website with alot of content...However, because of the lack in good developement in '3rd party php scripts' php pages lack good search engine positioning. Don't get me wrong, there are tools that will assist in getting your site found in the engines, but it's not like html where you simply create an 'ultimate product' and just use html to market it. My opinion is to stick with html, that's what has started the web, and that's where it will end.

Just my 2 cents.

php and html are not even comparable.

I would say forget html and go for php for one simple reason..
You can easily include HTML in PHP, but you can't easily include PHP within HTML.

So if you create your site with HTML then find that you want to add some dynamic content, database driven content or any of the other million and one great things php can do you may find that your SEO is effected when you change from html extentions to php extentions.

I completely disagree. In 10 years nobody at all will be using HTML, its practically obsolete now and server side scripting offers so much more.

Eh? You seem to be forgetting the HTML is the thing the actual browser displays...

HTML isn't going anywhere but it really is just becoming a necessary medium for displaying dynamic content.

More and more customers are demanding dynamic content (business owners, and site visitors!).

well HTML will be gone in ten years (most probably) and will be replaced by XHTML anyway so yea...

I think that just using html without any sort of server side code is abit boring BUT it wont become obsolete because alot of people are too lazy to learn a server side lang, even though its pretty easy once youve got started...
