PHP is not compare to javascript and javascript not compare to PHP. Both are distinct and work together in a client-server communication if its necessary.
PHP works in the server and Javascript works in the client browser.
PHP is not better than javascript and Javascript is not better than PHP. Cmplement each other. If you are a web programmer, need to know two languages.

Considering Dan just spent a whole page chatting about his avatar I felt it neccesary to create an account to point out the hypocrisy of bashing someone that summed up the thread. A summary is an excellent way to end the thread.

Also, a thread should die when no one is left to contribute/discuss the topic...not when someone decides that he has personally become tired of it.

This was a great read and this is a quality site. I'm happy to have found it. I learned that due to differences in the way browsers interpret code it is best to do all you can server-side for compatibility. Also, compiling and running code client-side helps reduce the strain on the server. This is why Javascript and PHP can both exist on the web with a competitive-cooperative duality. That some people are more familiar with / prefer coding in one over the other seems to be the cause of the heat and confusion in this debate.

Cheers guys.

i have seen a number of web sites. i seen everywhere that php is better than javascript. but what i feel is that php and javascripts both are the sides of a single coin. php is server side scripting language however javasript is a client side. it is just waste of time to compare these both languages. both are very powerful if someone has slow spped of internet then php codes makes difficulties for him to work on website. every script is checked on the server side. but if there is javascript it can handle mistakes by user on the spot.

I think that Php is a bit easier to learn than javascript and i also prefer to work with mysql and u can make really nice stuff with it. I think Javascript has a little security issue cuz i think it doesnt store passwords that secure for example.

Lol im coding in both Php and javascript but also in html and C++

Well at least i got someone else to sign up i guess...

The thread dwindled off into chit chat and was pretty old, so generally speaking unless your going to add something which isnt already present in the thread is better to create a new thread because if you look at it from a newer users point of view they will generally read it in cronological order and read all the interesting and useful posts at the begining...

Anyway lets move on.

I'm sorry people - But this thread has gone off topic and it has become too painful to keep seeing this old thread lurking in the php forum. I'm closing it!
