I've had a cron job set up to run a php file (file.php).

Last night the script stopped working and sent me this in the email the cron job sends.

           => `/dev/null'
Resolving www.silent.2dollarhost.net... failed: Temporary failure in name resolution.

The command i set the cron job to run is this.

wget -O /dev/null http://path to the file/file.php

Any ideas why this would just quit working?

Yes it tells you in that error message

"Temporary failure in name resolution." which could of been caused by many things but stopped its name been resolved to an IP address where it falls over for it cannot connect.

Make sure the domain name is correct

The important thing is does it work again now?

No, it is still giving me that message. It has been for two days. I made sure it was going to the correct path also.

If you can telnet or ssh into your account, you might be able to try running the script and troubleshoot it better...

The curl may have been disabled by your host - Try setting the path to the direct server path of your file instead of using http path

Im not sure why but it keeps gonig in and out. It will work then it will quit working. I don't think it is connecting to the IP address correctly but I don't know how to fix that or if thats the problem

So does anyone know why this doesn't work all the time?
