I have been asked to do a very big project for a local company. Basically its an auction house that wants it's own website, they run their main auction every saturday, but now would like to be able to allow customers to access their goods 24-7 and bid on them, and also have a buy-it-now feature.
The project is like a mini ebay, it will carry about 300 different items a week, except there wouldn't be a feedback system, and it would just be one company, rather than loads of different sellers, but the rest from different categories to payment processing via paypal would be the same, and the staff would like to be able update the products themselves using a login admin page.
Myself and my business partner will be able to complete this with the skills we have between us, but we have only ever built websites for ourselves or much simpler sites than this for clients, therefore we are not sure what to charge. With the plan we have in place we think it will take between 4 to 6 months to complete, something the client is happy with.
The client has basically said take as long as you need, but how much should we charge?
