Hello, Does anyone know how blogs ping servers to notify them that they have been updated?

The reason being is that i use blogger and blogger doesn't let you ping any server appart from weblogs.com and i would like to have my posts displayed here.

I tried googling but i found absolutely nothing. So if someone could let me know generaly how they do it, or point me towards some doccumentation that would be great.

Weblogs.com pretty much set the way pings are sent. All you have to do is send a XML-RPC request with the correct structure. Note that we only accept the weblogUpdates.ping method at the moment (not the extendedPing).

Ok, This weekend i had a go at this, But got completely lost. To be honest i don't understand it at all lol. Perhaps i'll come back to it at a later date.

I've been thinking of making an option that just pings the user's blog when they visit (ie. once every time their session times out and they create a new one). This will mean the last blog post link only updates when the user is actually active on our site, but that's okay.

I'll put it on my todo for when we upgrade to vB3.6.

I don't know why blogger doesn't give options to ping more servers, It seems they must have a reason sinse it's a logical thing for a blog to do.
