The server project I am currently working on is going slow but good. Here is what I need a bit of info on. Integrating HTML pages into a database?

I have PHP and MySQL for the server but have not got a clue as to where to start. My expertise of php/MySQL stops at being able to setup a forum on a webhost.

Any helpful tips, tricks or tutorials would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Toby

PHP has standard functions to work with many types of databases - include MySQL. For example mysql_connect wich connects you to database. Try to look at http://www.php.net for more info about it...

I started out by checking out this book from the public library, then had to buy it as it had everything I needed. It is called PHP and MySQL Web Development by Luke Welling and Laura Thomson. It is a SAMS publishing book. It comes complete with all of the source code in the book, and starts you out as a novice, and by the time you are done you are making full scale program. I use it all the time as a reference.

The Dummies series also has a pretty good PHP/MySQL book (and cheap too).

Take a look at:
http://www.freewebmasterhelp.com/tutorials/phpmysql/
That should have everything you need to get to the stage where you can have your HTML pages in a database, and enough info to create a simple templating system.

Once you have the fundamentals down, I would recommend this book as an invaluable reference.

PHP Functions
by Greant, Merrall, Wilson and Michlitsch from New Riders publishers ISBN 0-7357-0970-X

I am from Asia and great books like you mentioned are hard to come by. I started to learn HTML when I was in the US.
Now I want to go into PHP and just bought a book title "PHP Bible" by Tim Converse/Joyce Park"
Anyone heard or read about this book. I am totally new to PHP and starting to learn by reading this book. Will that help me.

Thanks

In my opinion it is never good to store html in a databes. There are some templating engines that are good. Try Smarty templating engine and xtemplate, both are open source.
