Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me.
I have been trying to use coppermine gallery for a project for a photographer to put his files for clients on the net.
The trouble is that it seems that the gallery was not really designed for what i want to use it for and seems to be overly complex for the end user. Im am not brilliant on PHP so i am looking for something pre-written to suit the needs.
What i am after is the following:
The guy is a wedding photographer and he takes the photos at the wedding and then the clients choose whick ones they want in the album. there could be over 100 photos at a time for each cleint - what he did previouly was take them out on the laptop and let the client choose. obviosly , this is time consuming.
The idea is that we use a web based sytem so that he can:
1: create a new user and password.
2: upload the photos to that users private gallery
3: the users then logs on and sees which photos they want - sending them an email with the file names.

the troble with Coppermine is that seems to be too complex and i cant for the life of me get the private user thing to work - either the photos dont upload and show or when they do they arwe visible to all.
beacuse these are wedding photos - i dont want Mrs Smith to be able to view Mrs Jones pics and vice verca.
I was wondering if anyonme out there has come across a gallery that will allow me to do this and is fool proof for the photographer to use.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as i seem to be going round in circles with the old Coppermine route!!!!!

i did manage the same with coppermine and it worked very well
Strangley it was for the exact same use as you describe there > I did some reserch into the different photo galleries around and although coppermine can be a bit complex and over functional - its really not that bad at all. A word of warning though, make sure you regularly update to the lastest versions as all me galleries got hacked last year and that caused a right kerfuffel.
With coppermine - you have to got the bit extra and create groups and assign users to the group. Trust me , it's really not that difficult when you get used to it.
I printed off the guide and read it over a few pints in the pub
