Newbie may lean a little further to the left than my tastes allow for, but I wouldn't go that far.
Oh, wait, you're talking about Bush, aren't you?

I'm not sure whether you're suggesting that I had inappropriate intellectual relations with the asker of this question, or if you're saying that I would make a better president than George W Bush with a mouthful of tic tacs?
Until we have more information on this vital issue, I can only answer the question that was posed. Given this choice between two evils, I would have to deliver my vote to tic tacs. They may not be very intelligent, but that works both ways. Tic Tacs have never lead us to war over false intelligence.

That was actually a write-in vote, Newbie. Guess I owed it to you after the vote of no-confidence joke.

How far to the left I am only depends on your perspective. For example, if you stand on your head, I'm further right than Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter combined. Don't ask me to explain how you would combine those them, only it's too late, the thought already occurred. On the other hand I specifically chose my handle because let's face it, I'm not an expert in life. I think when you think you know it all is when you stop asking questions.
But I'm not sure why I'm an extreme lefty? I think we should be good stewards of our surroundings, we should tax wealth before labor, and we shouldn't have a death penalty. I don't think those are that extreme? Seriously, think of a serial killer like Ted Bundy, and think of the possibilities if he spent the rest of his life locked up in a room, as the subject of psychology experiments. And even in regular cases like OJ, unless it's a celebrity like him, it's anywhere from 5x to 10x more expensive to get and carry out a death sentence than a life sentence. For good reason - if we're gonna kill somebody, we need to be really sure they did it. But more to the point, I don't think a civilized nation is one that kills its own citizens. That sounds more like Iraq and China and Afghanistan to me. If we're a culture of life, like I keep hearing about, then we should be that.

Hmm, almost 45,000 votes & tic-tacs are winning by a landslide. Besides, I already said I'm voting for John for president - if everyone on WT writes in Learning Newbie for their vote he's sure to win , but can you serve as president if you are elected by an internet name???

Can we use funny math to elect John? If we have x % of internet users, we'll just project his amazing write-in campaign to see how many people would have voted for him, if they only knew the guy...

See, I don't have to go out to the lake to fish! Bait hook, cast, wait.....
Somehow I doubt that was what was meant by that "fishers of men" line.

Tic-Tacs are dominating this poll so far, 7-0, I guess no one likes Bush's qualifications for President.
I'm personally not a big fan of all the "left-wing" "right-wing" "liberal" "conservative" labels. I understand why people use them, because they think that labels makes it easier to categorize and classify people's different beliefs and stances on political issues. But I don't think the labels really apply to 90% of the population.
For example, someone could be 100% against the death penalty, but want nothing to do with gun control, and they may only believe abortion applies to certain situations. What would you label them a centrist? A "lefty-right"? Or what?

(bump)
Does Newbie meet all the qualifications? From everything I've read, he'd surely make a great candidate (for 2008) .
