As you are Canadian, or at least in Canada, I'm trying to figure out why you are so emotional about the U.S. president, economy, trade deficit, war with Iraq, or anything else the U.S. does. Seriously. Your feelings that America is the "Most hated" country on the planet, are not shared by most foreigners. I can say this with some measure of accuracy, as my business dealings leave me spending more time outside of the U.S. than in. I deal with people from many nations such as Germany, Italy, France, Viet Nam, Netherlands, Russia, and yes Canada. Let me assure you that, while your Bush hatred may be popular, your hatred of America is not.

Regarding America being unsafe, the statistics speak for themselves. No attacks on US soil since 9-11. You think that happened by accident?

Regarding my *** being owned by someone of Chinese descent, the fact that the U.S. has a trade deficit with a wide variety of countries hardly constitutes the "evidence" I asked you to produce. Here is a wikipedia link you might want to give a read. It explains how balance of trade effects the nations involved.

A few things to think about:
1) the real deficit began in 1997, under Clinton
2) increase in deficit correlates with increase in GDP and Employment, both indicators of a healthy economy
3) devalued dollar makes US manufactured goods more competitive in the world market
4) devalued dollar means the money we are repaying China with is worth less ("Worthless"? o Goody)
5) Not that it is likely to happen, but an easy way to bring down the debt and deficit at the same time is to slap some nice hefty import taxes on goods coming from .... CANADA. Not only would you see the consumption rate lower, but we could pay back China(Debt not Deficit) with your strong Canadian dollars.
6) Despite all the tough talk it is likely that China and many other foreign nations would likely bailout the US currency were it to hit catastrophic lows. Regardless of the rising middle class in China, the U.S. is still the worlds consumer, as the trade numbers will indicate.

So many options, but none of them wind up with me, or any other individual American owing the Chinese or Canadians a thing. Mexico has owed the US money for how long now, and I still cant get a place in Baja for free.

One last thing. While the dollar continues to slide (another 6-8 months more than likely), most Americans with a financial advisor have a substantial portion of their liquid assets in gold and foreign currencies. God knows there will be money to be made when US real estate and the dollar are at rock bottom. I'm looking forward to it. And don't even thinking about laying claim to any portion of my house.

Those people who gambled foolishly and bought a house they cant afford will likely loose it. I know no politician would ever say it but , tough. Perhaps it will serve as some consolation that, if you fault predatory lending practices of sub-prime lenders for these people loosing their houses, many of those sub-prime lenders will be going under, or taking very large financial bath. While I feel for the guy who is loosing his house, it certainly isn't the federal government, nor the American citizen's job to bail him out.

Does anyone else feel this topic is getting slightly out of hand? I have no problem with expressing political beliefs, but this is suppose to be a webmaster forum.

It's obvious some people are very passionate about these topics, but there are other places these issues could be discussed. Not to mention the abundance of personal attacks that have taken place here.

It's been fun ... well, not really, but ... but I don't want this to get to the point where people start refusing to answer other peoples' real questions about css, seo, or whatever else, because they remember that some idiot actually thought Bush / Clinton / The ??? Party is the cause for all that's wrong with the world. So I'm going to close this thread before anyone gets offended.
