Democrats suck. They know or troops need funding, so they tack a hate crimes bill into the troop funding bill. That's wrong!

In an attempt to force the veto pen of President Bush, liberals on Capitol Hill have inserted the hate (thought) crimes language into the Defense Appropriations bill expanding both the definition of hate crimes and of those who can be found culpable under these provisions.

The definition is broadened to include sexual orientation among the protected classes, elevating sexual attraction to the status of race and creed. Those who can be found culpable have also been expanded to include not only those who commit the crime but those who may have unknowingly "inspired" those actions. For example, a pastor can be considered legally culpable if he preaches against the homosexual agenda and a member of his congregation subsequently commits a crime against a homosexual. Thus, the act against the homosexual is considered a crime, as it should be, but so also is the thought against the agenda or conduct.

Liberals have deviously inserted this provision in the Defense Appropriations bill. If conservative negotiators are unsuccessful in excising this provision from the bill then President Bush will be forced to do one of two things. First, he could veto the bill, which would then cause delays in funding our troops in Iraq. Second he could sign the bill to ensure the troops receive their funds, but have the unfortunate outcome of granting the new hate crimes provision the force of law.

Given the urgency and importance of these issues please help the House and Senate negotiators by calling members and urging them to remove this provision. Tell them it should be removed because the provision is not germane to the national defense of this country. Most importantly, tell them that the provision should be removed because it runs counter to our country's bedrock principles of free speech and thought.

He is obviously quoting a conservative source that is twisting. And of course, most of it is pure bull **** if anyone reads from reliable sources.

Our so-called representatives (they sure don't represent US !) do this kind of thing ALL the time, tacking on other things to otherwise important bills for one reason or another. The 'poison pill' amendment is not a new tactic, they've always done it ! By the same token, they also get other legislation passed this way, some good, IMO, mostly NOT.

Ah, the poison pill. Given the great scrutiny and visibility of this troop funding bill, it wasnt a particularly clever time for Teddy "Whats that dead chick doing in my pond" Kennedy to tack on an unrelated and partisan rider, regardless of it´s merits.

I just love all the seething Bush hatred here, and everywhere else. Here is something I´m sure will generate some angst with some of you. Bush is not the first polarizing president we have had that made unpopular decisions he felt were necessary regardless of public opinion. Also a war time president. Hated in his time by most, he is now considered by history one of our greatest presidents. I´m sure youve guessed by now. Abraham Lincoln. Bring it.

How do you guys know Nathan is a Republican? Sure, his post may have quoted a conservative source, but we shouldn't be so quick to judge and label him a "crazy right-winger". Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he's just trying to take the troops' best interests to heart.

He thinks science is determined by political appointees who know nothing regarding science.
He thinks environmental policy should be made by political appointees who know nothing about science.
He knew he was lying about WMD. They had one person as a source and that one they were told wasn't a reliable source.
He knew he was outing a CIA agent and the Niger connection to Saddam was a lie.
He has lied for 6 years about wanting to win in Afghanistan. Didn't send in enough troops and never learned. Now the Taliban control a large section of the country. Conservatives will never know because it won't be reported on FOX Propaganda channel.
He is friends with one of the biggest terror supporters. The head of Saudi Arabia.
He thinks stem cell research is supposed to be determined by his superstition and not sound science.
He supports the prison camp in Cuba where people have been imprisoned for years and then set free because there is no evidence against them.
He supports torture.
His administration made deals with the leaders of groups that killed American troops, giving them weapons and money in exchange for stopping attacks on Americans. Will only work in the short term.

• California wild fires. The federal government was much quicker to act when it was rich white people instead of poor black people being threatened.

• Falling value of the dollar, because America is broke. The entire world wants to dump the worthless dollar in favor of the Euro thanks to Bush's mismanagement of our economy and our standing with the rest of the world.
• $1 billion trade deficit.
• Afghanistan. The one police action somewhat worthy of embarking upon is the one "war" Bush is ignoring and loosing. The Taliban are regaining control of the country and opium production is on the rise.
• Torture, secret prisons, and suspension of habeas corpus, oh my!
• Mike Huckabee freed a rapist from prison because his victim was distantly related to Bill Clinton, and then said it was all Bill Clinton's fault!!!

I think every current president is the worse possible choice, until they're dead of course, when they then become better. But when I think back about the other nominees, I'm thankful we made the mistake that we made. But that's just me.

BTW a little story, I put food on my family last night. Well, only one of my family when I was trying to get some ketchup on my plate for the French Fries and I squirted it on my son. Then I put some of my food on the floor right after that, but the dog liked it. The McDonald's fries and I were having a time together!

So its a agreed. Bush may be our greatest president yet! Its a shame he cant run for another term. To quote Guiliani's reply to the Youtube questioner who asked what he would do to repair America's blemished image in the Arab world, "The people we are offending are the people we WANT to offend". You have to love it. If I was undecided before, he certainly won my vote with that line. At the end of the day, there is nothing more pathetic than whining. Give it up girls, there is no crying in baseball. The only thing I can imagine more entertaining than threads like this one, will be next year when the dems gotta get used to the idea of "President Guiliani. How could it happen!
