It pains me just a little to say this. In the sense that it's a lot more fun to pick on Republicans than members of my own team. But I'm drawn to calling out examples of sheer stupidity, and also examples of when people refuse to look at a situation logically, and paint themselves into a corner because of it. I feel these things serve as examples for the rest of us. So, on that note, Geraldine Ferraro is being incredibly, profoundly stupid, and needs to be called out for it.

1. Somehow, in a parallel universe, it's Obama's fault that Ferraro made comments that many people feel are racist. It's not really clear how that works, but maybe she's saying if Obama could just be white her statements would have happened in a different context?
2. A direct quote is Ferraro also implored Obama's campaign to turn "the spigot off the hate mail I am getting." But the hatemail she's getting isn't from the Obama campaign. It's from thousands of Americans who are offended at what she said. (A) Obama has no control over them. (B) If that many people all take offense at what she said, maybe every one of them is right and she's wrong? It's at least a possibility that should be looked into.
3. Honestly it's not Obama or anyone else's fault Ferraro said things that got her into trouble.

Excuse me while I take a moment to chuckle as the PC left turns on itself. Ferraro is no more a racist than was Dr. Martin Luther King. Her statement was absurd and partisan, but the PC left immediately digs in and calls her a racist. Its stuff like this that comforts me at night, knowing the Republicans don't really have to do too much to beat the Democrats. Their policies are so self destructive, they cant get out of the primaries without imploding.

You're right - Mitt Romney, Sam Brownback, and all the other troglodytes self destructed pretty quickly. Not sure what Republican destructiveness has to do with Martin Luther King, but I'll indulge you on that one.

Honestly, what makes her look really really bad, enough for me to start a discussion over, is the fact that she can see a groundswell of opposition to her behavior, recognizes that to the point that she resigns her post without being asked, and then goes out in public and blames Obama for public reaction to her behavior.

You make my point again. In my opinion, only someone with a real sense of PC would think that anything she has done is outside the scope of politics as normal. Bill Cunningham keeps saying "Barack HUSSEIN Obama" trying to appeal to a sense of extreme paranoia about all things Islamic, but I don't think hes made himself look really really bad. I'm sure his message is hitting home with some people as well. /shrug Business as usual.

The fun part about Ferraro is that its Democrats getting all PC on Democrats and there are very few that deny it is destructive to the party as a whole. Given that Juan Pablo McCain is a lot more left than Obama is right, it will be interesting to see where the moderates (who I believe detest PC) go in this election.

Maybe John is trying to hold Mrs Ferraro to a higher standard than Mr Cunningham. I can't really say. It's nonsense no matter how you slice it. The former VP hopefully didn't say anything patently offensive to a group of people ... she called Obama's qualifications into question. She has every right to do that; when you run for president, you put yourself in a position where you're going to be questioned quite a bit. The other side of the story is that by having run for VP and by working for Hillary's campaign, Ferraro is also a public person, and also fair game when it comes to public opinion.

I don't see John making your point for you, or, at the least, I have no idea what your point might be. He's right that Geraldine is wrong to blame Barak for how her comments were received ... but he's also making a mountain out of a mole hill.

It's a great way for Obama and Clinton to avoid substantiative debate ... I have to give them that.

What would they really debate about? It seems they agree on most things issue wise. Besides, the debates between those two have gotten really strange. At times, I almost expect the two to hold hands and sing cumbayah. Is it just me, or is Hillary starting to look really pathetic as she desperately scrambles to do anything she can for her last opportunity for power. It makes Barack look all the more presidential. Too bad he's such a commie.

I stopped paying attention, as much as that's possible. It's a little ... um, perplexing I guess is a good word ... that Hillary offered Barak the VP spot. Not just because she's so far behind him, but with all the talk about how unqualified he is, putting him in the #2 spot obviously isn't something she thinks is wise.

How on earth do you figure Obama is a communist? That seems like either a profound misunderstanding of what the word means, or you've bought into the Manchurian candidate silliness?

Two points really:

2) I listened to his preacher talk, and assumed he picked up some of his viewpoints.
