Canyonero - perfect Republican car or what?

I was watching the Simpsons earlier, and this car came up. It's the episode where Krusty the clown decides to quit comedy because he isn't funny anymore, then finds he is a natural at observational humour, then sells out to some rich corporation at the end.

The Canyonero advert at the end is typically Republican - it's like the perfect car - here's some of the lyrics:
Quote:
Can you name the truck with four wheel drive,
smells like a steak and seats thirty-five.....
.....The Federal Highway comission has ruled the
Canyonero unsafe for highway or city driving.....
.....12 yards long, 2 lanes wide,
65 tons of American Pride!.....
.....She blinds everybody with her super high beams,
She's a squirrel crushing, deer smacking, driving machine!
|
What is it about this car that reminds me of Republicans?

That fact that it, like the GOP, is designed to make buyers feel, ahem, more manly is the polite way to put it.

Actually, once you get to your second kid, you need three rows of seats just to be able to go somewhere with your family and someone else. Then you ad camping or sporting equipment, or luggage, and you'll find yourself shopping for a "Canyonero", which the woman of the family normally drives (taking kids here and there and so forth). Maybe we GOP like our women to to be more manly?

What are Mustangs classified as as far as political parties are concerned?

If it has an automatic transmission and is over ten years old, a roadside decoration. Sorry. Ford just can't make a good AT. Now put something like a five speed or four on the floor in it, with a three-oh-two or greater, then we're talking (The street racing-modified Boss 302 I had would scream). What's it classified as? Dunno, I'm a Democrat, and I still like a Mustang, but wouldn't be caught dead in one of those Land Yachts. You would think that the price of gas would curb most of those school bus sized Ford Invasions.

3 rows of seats?! Seriously? Whats wrong with a normal 5 door car with 3 seats in the back and 2 in the front - there's no need to drive a minibus around!

Thats what I got! The problem is, the two child safety seats leave no room for the third seat in the back, so its me, my wife, the kids, and nobody else. Where can I buy one of those Canyoneros?

You'll have to speak to the somewhat liberal Matt Groening about this - I'm sure he'll be able to help you out!

I forgot to mention that the Mustang was marketed as Ford's economy car when it was introduced. And really, for a mid-sized block engine it doesn't do that bad on gas, much better than the land yachts by a long stretch. But I'd still take the 302 or 351 engine over the 289 or the (yeek!) 200. More power! (grunt, grunt) Long as it's later model of the older run with a four on the floor. Manuals are better on gas anyway.

Funny but....
I KNOW their intentions were the opposite but the result is, Clinton got us cheap oil (by working deals with Russia), the result of which was consumers buying gas guzzling SUV's.
Bush made his oil buddies lots of money, the result being consumers buying smaller more fuel efficient cars.
So, who was better for the environment?
For the record, in my opinion (as an ex airborne combat engineer), they both should be in jail, Clinton for Somalia and Bosnia, Bush for Iraq.

Haha. True regardless of the alleged Irony. Bush's Crawford ranch is the image of Eco-Friendly, unlike Gore's mansion, which consumes the electricity of a small city. We say "I know the intent was different", but was it really? Gore is a hypocrite of the highest order, while he fleeces an ignorant populous, and they love him for it. Its very respectable actually.
