I read the news and blogs the day following the ABC debate between Obama and Clinton, and found myself compelled to see what all the buzz was about. After watching the replay on Youtube, I was pleasantly surprised to see uncomfortable questions being asked of the candidates, particularly Obama. Granted, it was nothing like the CNN debacle as they hosted the youtube Republican debates, but they asked some aggressive questions undecided Dems would have to have on their mind. So chalk one up for ABC being willing to ask Obama, at this very late stage in the game, some tough questions. By the way, watching him squirm and listening to his answers, the man is a bigger liar than Hillary. I guess that goes hand in hand with being a politician.

Now for the funny part. The party faithful were so p*ssed off that their candidates were asked tough questions, ABC received 9 to 1 negative posts and criticism from those who visited their website to comment. One editorial mentioned he was so angry, his hands were shaking as he was writing his editorial. All in all, it is going to be a comedy filled election year.

I think the personal issues should not have been brought in.

I'm wondering if they actually believe some of what they say.

What really annoyed me was when the moderator told Obama that if you lower the taxes, the tax revenue increases and Obama said he would still raise the taxes fro the rich. When asked why? Because it's fair, he says. Because it's FAIR? Fair is to tax everyone equally. What about free trade? The rich are rich because they earned it. We shouldn't take from the rich to give to the poor. That's not right. I could just see him on the fringes of breaking out and accusing the evil rich of all their capitalistic explotation (well, not quite). However, his taxing the rich because it was fair, despite the fact that lowering the taxes would increase revenue struck me as rather socialistic.

If lowered taxes alone caused increased revenue, the tax rate should approach 0 %.

I like the idea of everybody being taxed equally ... but that would imply that wages and capitol gains should be taxed equally.

I just thought it was funny to see Charlie Gibson ask that particular question on ABC. You have to know those questions are going to get asked in the general election, and perhaps Obama will be better prepared (Mind you McCain is certainly no Economist).

Was it just me, or did anyone else notice how, on several questions, Obama really came across as an out and out liar. Like the Rev. Wright stuff. 20 years sitting in that guys church, listening to his sermons, un-invites him to his campaign kickoff because his speeches can "get a little rough", and yet he somehow expects the public to believe he had never heard some of the quotes being aired on Television? He said he "un-invited" him for other rough sermons. I wonder when we are going to hear those.

When pressed on the issue in the debate, he mostly stuttered. Hillary, on the other hand, I thought did a fairly decent job basically apologizing for the "Bosnia Sniper" story. Its probably just immaturity in Politics, but there comes a time when they have enough evidence that you need to stop denying and start apologizing (or properly distancing yourself in this case).
