i think there isn't any unity there.. people are really hard working but i didn't find unity there.. and the other major problem is poverty..results corruption & crime.. Africans should build unity among them selves.. lots of examples are there.. even non developed countries are now under developed just because they work with unity and sincerity
It is a complex subject with historical, cultural, geographic and many other reasons. It was a playground for imperialism which kept it backward. The tribal rivalries meant that 'divide and rule' was quite easy to implement. The imperialists when they finally left did so by creating boundaries which would perpetually keep the infighting going on mostly along tribal lines and it does to this day. Inter tribal conflict is the bane of African society.
Andrei is right. The cold war didn't help and afterwards the continent was largely forgotten since much of it doesn't hold strategic value for the West except those countries that have oil.
Of course there are many reasons but one is Sub-saharan Africa was somewhat isolated because of the Saharan desert and the continent is spread out on a north-south axis. A good read is Jared Diamond's "Guns, Germs, and Steel"
I like your explanation.
the fact is Africa is poor,I think we should try to help ppl there.
