That may be because the media got started with this election earlier than almost any other election in history. I feel more apathetic than weary. The honeymoon with Barack is over so, like so many elections before this one, I'll be voting against someone rather than for someone. I'd venture a guess most Republicans, and a healthy portion of the Democrats feel this way too. I'm happy our black population still has a candidate they like and feel strongly about. Its got to be better than apathy voting.
Cynically speaking, there is a bright side. Election mud slinging is far more interesting to me than any sitcom or television show. I can pull up a bowl of popcorn and just wait for the mud to fly and see how the population reacts.
Here is some entertaining fodder to digest.
McCain - Obama - Issue
--33%----50%---- Federal spending will go up if elected
--43%----40%---- Better leader
--51%----37%---- Trust on National Security/Iraq
--44%----40%---- Trust more on economic issues
--28%----45%---- Will raise taxes
--43%----42%---- Holds values closer to your own
Essentially, on every key polling issue, McCain is better liked and trusted. Now for the punch line. Obama is polling at 48% to McCain's 40% since Hilary abdicated (Post Primary bounce). Obviously those numbers will change between now and November, especially now that McCain will be getting more press coverage. The question is, will Obama pull ahead on the issues, or will the popular vote adjust to the reality of how people see him on the issues. Also of interest, as much as McCain is viewed as a moron on the economy, I was surprised to see Obama is viewed as worse.
